Jeffrey Lobel,
CPA, CFE
Jeffrey founded Lobel Accountancy Corporation to bring the rigor and depth of institutional public accounting to privately held companies that deserve senior-level attention — not junior-staff handoffs dressed up in a firm's letterhead.
Every engagement at LAC is led directly by Jeffrey. That's not a differentiator for small engagements — it's the operating model for all of them.
Career & Credentials
Jeffrey began his career in public accounting at Baker Tilly, one of the nation's top advisory and assurance firms, where he rose from staff to senior roles serving clients across California. His engagements at Baker Tilly spanned the full assurance spectrum — financial statement audits for large public companies with SOX internal control requirements, an IPO transaction, and a full range of mid-market audits, reviews, and compilations for privately held businesses across industries including specialty finance, manufacturing, real estate, and professional services. That grounding gave him something most controllers never acquire: a deep command of GAAS audit methodology built from the auditor's side of the table, not learned from managing one.
He later moved into industry as Controller at a California-based specialty finance company — a role that expanded his scope considerably. There, he was responsible for all external financial reporting across portfolios totaling more than $600 million in managed receivables. That meant leading multi-entity consolidated audits with national CPA firms, managing the full debt covenant compliance cycle, building automated accounting infrastructure from the ground up, and presenting board-level financial packages to investors and lenders. On the technical side, the work covered CECL adoption under ASC 326, securitization accounting under ASC 860, multi-entity consolidation, and lender reporting across multiple credit facilities — the kind of breadth most accountants encounter in pieces, not all at once.
Jeffrey holds a degree from the University of Oregon's Charles H. Lundquist College of Business and is actively licensed as a CPA in California. His Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) credential — awarded by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners — adds a trained eye on internal controls, risk environments, and financial integrity that goes beyond what most CPAs bring to an engagement.
At LAC, Jeffrey works directly on every client engagement. There are no handoffs to junior staff — the senior expertise you engage is the expertise you receive.
Connect on LinkedInYour engagement moves faster because the person running it can also fix the systems causing the delays.
Most CPAs are highly skilled at accounting. Fewer can also rebuild the infrastructure that accounting runs on. Jeffrey's technical fluency in automation, data transformation, and workbook engineering means LAC engagements don't just produce deliverables — they leave your financial operations in better shape than they were.
The goal is never automation for its own sake. It's accuracy, speed, and resilience — financial infrastructure that holds up under scrutiny, scales with the business, and doesn't break when someone goes on vacation.
